From Tarpon fishing in the northern Costa Rica Jungle to Offshore Fly Fishing for Marlin & Sailfish, to Jigging & Popping the Inshore & Offshore reefs.
Our Inshore trip in costa rica yesterday ended on a complete high when Sam had one of the pound for pound battles of his life with a super sized Milkfish which took us by complete surprise. The fish measured 88cm and we estimated it at around 23lbs. The fish almost spooled Sam twice and put on some incredible jumps and exhilarating runs. Other highlights of an action packed day included a crazy 45 minutes on a huge shoal of Jacks and large Bonitos. We were getting double and triple hookups of big Jacks on the Popper which was great fun.
The livebaiting was fairly slow yesterday, however, the Poppers did not disappoint. We had bites/follows from 5 Roosters on the Popper and were unlucky to lose a Rooster next to the boat. We then had an epic period of Cubera Snapper action with at least 10 fish sighted cruising sub-surface, two of which smashed our Poppers and after an epic battle with a 20-25lb Cubera we were unlucky to lose it, as it was sliding into the net! Sometimes in fishing you narrowly miss out on the photo, but the memory most certainly remains!
All in all an action packed day here in Costa Rica and full report of our Offshore fishing in costa rica to follow soon!
