It was the first of 6 days Fishing yesterday for Tim, Reg & Keith from England who have each been out to fish with us on separate occasions but have now joined forces for a group trip with the three of them. It has been great to see UK & European Anglers visiting us again this year.
We were up against some bouts of bad weather the past couple of weeks so hopefully we get a clean run this next week & get some good fishing in to put the guys on some nice species variety and the action that they are looking for.
Onto the Fishing, we caught an early Sailfish at 15 miles in an area where there had been a nice Sail bite the day before with one boat going 10 for 16 on Sailfish, much better than it had been in previous weeks. We worked the area for a few hours but no other bites so we pushed out further & found a really nice current/debris line at 22 miles which looked fantastic & hopes were high. But really strangely, apart from one small part of it, there were very few fish. The area that held the action had a school of around 30-40 Dorados on it, one of the big bulls looked easily 40lb plus a few more in the 20-25lb range. Freelined Live Sardines, blue runners, chumming, poppers, trolling lures, Ballyhoo’s, islanders etc…we tried it all but could not tempt the larger fish. But the guys had some fun catching the smaller Dorados on spinning gear and nice to see a few fish. Reg caught a nice Sail on light spinning tackle too and they took a few Dorado Fillets up to a local restaurant to cap off the first day.
Catch Report - Day 1

Wish us luck for the rest of the week!
