TUNA, TUNA & MORE TUNA ABOARD GOOD DAY!!
Nathaniel & Kelley from North Carolina joined us today for a 1/2 Day charter
For our Quepos Costa Rica Fishing, we headed 22 miles off Quepos & with the help of the boats that had gone out just before us managed to find a large pod of Spinner Dolphins & Yellow Fin Tuna immediately.
Within 10 seconds of our lures hitting the water for the first time we were into a double header of Yellow Fin. Fishing was fast & furious for the next 90 minutes with bent rods & zinging reels. Most fish were in the 8-10lb range and just when it seemed that there were no larger Tuna in amongst them, Nathaniel's rod bent double & a ton of line was stripped from his reel. It was clear that this was a much better fish. Nathaniel did an excellent job and after a 15 minute battle had a stunning 36lb Yellow Fin Tuna alongside the boat. This certainly made the day & is Nathaniel's largest Tuna to date!
We spent the next two hours searching for Sailfish & despite spotting a few tailers close to the boat we could not get them to eat.
We ended the day with 10 Yellow Fin Tuna landed & 4 lost fish. We seen Common Dolphins, Spinner Dolphins, 30+ Turtles, Flying Fish, Tailing Sailfish, Tuna busting the surface & all kinds of seabirds. Not bad for a 1/2 Day offshore fishing charter!
