2024 Pescadora Billfish Championship
WHAT A WEEKEND here at Marina Pez Vela Costa Rica for the 6th Annual ladies only Pescadora Billfish Championship.
264 ladies from 61 teams from around the world released 717 billfish during the 2 tournament days.
It was a high energy, fun filled, empowering & life changing weekend for many of the ladies involved & its so amazing after all the hard work put in to see the tournament continue to grow each year. These photos don’t do it justice, but hopefully some of the videos we will drop over the next few days will give you a taste of the energy of the weekend.

Day 1 - 7 Sailfish
Day 2 - 3 Sailfish
Total = 10 Sailfish
We managed to win the 1st place Billfish daily on both day 1 & day 2 for boats under 40 foot.
A great achievement by our wonderful ladies Debbie, Lisa, Sharon, Cathy & Stella from TEAM MADE YA HOOK representing South Africa, USA, Philippines & the Isle of Man.
We had no luck on the Tuna & Dorado this time but we fished hard for 2 days and the girls gave it their all. We found several spinner dolphin schools but not a bite from Tuna & several nice current breaks but we could not manage a dorado.
We tagged all 10 of the Sailfish we caught for Gray FishTag Research which gave us 5th place for Tagged fish against some true heavyweight tournament boats
Huge thanks to all involved at tournament HQ for such a fantastic weekend of pushing many of these ladies out of their comfort zones & making memories & friendships for a lifetime.
