We had a great day fishing in Costa Rica yesterday where Andy, Teri, Jake & Courtney joined us for an Inshore trip to try & tick a Roosterfish off Andy's bucketlist!
It proved to be an excellent day with 4 nice Roosterfish released along with a HUGE Needlefish & 6 Mackerel ready for a fish dinner at the Runaway Grill!
The highlights of the day included Teri's 20 minute battle with a 40lb plus Rooster which spat the hook next to the boat...ouch! Andy had a stunning Blue Fin Trevally following his popper that we did not catch and then a BEAST of a Roosterfish chased his Popper all the way to the boat, in classic Rooster style with its 'comb' out of the water as it was in stealth attack mode. This was the 'PERFECT' Big Rooster to catch on a Fly - he was hungry & aggressive.....where was the Fly Rod when we needed it!!
We managed to hook him on a live sardine but after a blistering run he broke our leader on the rocks in shallow water. Super cool!
That was one fun day on the water!
