Bruce had his sights set on his first ever Billfish & after losing a Sailfish midway through the day that threw the hook, we covered a lot of ground to see if we could find another.
There were plenty of Dorados in close, we caught 4 nice sized Dorados & our buddies on other boats stayed in close and caught plenty more, but our day was made when Bruce finally got his hands on a Sailfish Bill. Someone was looking down on him as midway through the 15-20 minute fight, after a series of jumps & cartwheels, the Sailfish threw the hook but someone he then managed to lasso it around the tail (Tennessee Cowboy style!)
So a 99” Sailfish in the 90-100lb range was boatside, tagged & released strongly for Gray FishTag Research to cap off a great day on the water!
We will be back out there tomorrow & start getting busy now, stay tuned for some more catch reports & wish us luck!
