I think it’s safe to say that the memories of Sunday’s trip aboard GOOD DAY will stay with us forever.
Our regular guest & Costa Rica resident Tom & his great buddies Lumpy, Miguel & Andrey joined us for a day of Offshore fishing.
We got off to a great start catching 4 Dorados early morning and losing/missing a few more at a current break just 10 miles from the marina.
After things slowed up a little, we pushed out another 10 miles further on the back of a radio call that there was some good action, with more dorados & a couple of Marlin bites. We had no luck on the troll so loaded the Tuna tubes up with 8 bonitos & switched up to live baits which did the truck and we quickly hooked a Blue Marlin. Success.
Miguel, one of the jolliest &
Interesting men you will ever meet, fought the Marlin on 30lb test, you should have seen the smile on his face. After a back and forth fight with some nice jumps thrust in, we managed to leader the fish before it went on another run and popped the leader. We didn’t get a great photo but Miguel loved the experience, he felt every inch of the fish move as it pulled the line which he constantly guided with his thumb. We told Miguel when the Fish was going to jump, how far it was from the boat so he knew exactly what work he still had left to do. Chris (Stumpy) guided the direction of the fighting chair whilst the others took photos & soaked up the moment of their friend fighting his first Marlin. Miguel may be blind, but with the support & teamwork of his friends, he fought the Marlin superbly with the biggest smile on his face the whole time. Such a total pleasure to be involved in. A great fish, for a great man, what a day.
As we fought our Marlin another Marlin bust the surface & proceeded to tail walk off our stern with a 40’ Ronin Sportfisher in hot pursuit as Marlin #5 in this small area was hooked that day.
After the excitement with the Marlin, we managed to catch 3 more Dorado to round out a perfect day at the office finishing up with 7 Dorado & 1 Blue Marlin.
We are just getting ready to head back out there now, Jerry, Peyton & friends are joining us today, wish us luck!
