Dante & Nicole from California joined us for 4 days Fishing this week to celebrate Dante’s 30th Birthday.
Day 1 they fished aboard the 35’ Cabo Express SWEET DREAMS, the weather was a little sporty but they had some good action getting the campaign off to a good start catching 6 nice sized Dorados.
Day 2 they were with us aboard GOOD DAY, Dante was delighted to catch his first ever Billfish, a big female Sail of 103”, estimated in the 90-95lb range. We also had some great action on the Dorados to finish off a nice day.
1 for 2 Sailfish
7 nice sized Dorados
Day 3, we decided to head south today whilst the rest of the fleet went west. We pushed out 38 miles and found some spinner dolphins with Tuna. We got a couple of bites & lost a 20-30lb Tuna mid fight but couldn’t manage to catch another. Capt. Manuel then found a large piece of floating rope with the motherload of bait underneath. We loaded the Livewell with blue runners & the tuna tubes with Bonitos. There were small sharks, triggerfish, small Amberjacks & more hanging out plus tons of baitfish. It liked the perfect setting for a Marlin. We quickly got into some Dorados catching them trolling, livebaiting, on spinning rods & Dante caught 2 solid Dorados on the Fly in the 20-25lb range. We seen a Sailfish free jumping next to the floating rope but we got zero bites from Billfish. After a few hours of hectic action we pushed away from the rope & took the scenic trolling route towards home out in the 3000-5000’ deep water to see if we could find a Marlin or another group of Tuna but no luck on that unfortunately.
