Today we commenced 6 days of Fishing in Costa Rica with Didier & Steven from France. It was a glorious morning and the guys could not wait to get our there and into some fishing action after waiting for the long months since they booked their trip.
After our success yesterday releasing a 300lb Blue Marlin our hopes were high for more action today. We headed way offshore and at 40 miles out we were still in green water, very uncommon for December. We found the Green/Blue Colour change at 41 miles with a nice current but there was still lots of dirty water and apart from one Dorado who was not hungry it was pretty slow.we pushed out further into the clean water and within ten minutes had a nice Blue Marlin in the spread which was awesome to see but we could not convert him.
It was looking like a slow day until we got the radio call from our friends on the boat 'Monkeyshine' that there was some great action a few miles further out. We headed out to find a floating cage /FAD which commercial fishermen had deployed and it was absolutely loaded with fish. We had some awesome action for 90 mins landing 7 different species before we had to set off for the long ride home:
1 x 30lb Dorado
8 Yellow Fin Tunas
3 Tripletails
1 Wahoo
5 Bonitos
1 Shark
2 Rainbow Runners
It was a really fun day fishing in Quepos with a stunning sunset to end the day.
For day 2 we are going to Fish Inshore tomorrow for Roosterfish & Snook and allow the green water to disperse offshore, hopefully in time for day 3!
