DORADO ON FLY!
It was day 3 Fly Fishing in Quepos Costa Rica for Julian, Sebastian & Skyler today.
16 year old Sebastian was the star of the show when he got the release on a 25lb Dorado after a 10 minute battle. We had shots at 2 other Dorado which we teased within range but were unlucky on the hookups.
The highlight of the day was when a 180-200lb Blue Marlin crashed the short teaser. He smashed all 3 teaser Baits we had in the water & we kept him interested by casting a ballyhoo popperhead combo on a Spinning rod which did the trick & allowed us to get him into casting range. Julian executed the perfect cast, the Marlin ate the Fly right before our eyes but were super unlucky when the hook never set. It was an epic few minutes of action & we came within a whisker of having a feisty Blue on the end of Julian's 12 weight, which would have been a blast.
