We just returned from a stunning trip down to Drake Bay in the OSA Península. Just a quick, visit this time but Capt. Manuel Gabuardi is always nostalgic visiting his birthplace and it is certainly one of my favorite places to visit.
We had some great Roosterfish action on the way down, catching 8 Roosterfish and narrowly missing out on several on the popper. We caught Jacks, Needlefish & had dome follows on the popper from Snappers, Big Eye Jacks & more. We lost two nice fish in succession, one broke us in the Reef & was probably bright red with BIG teeth.
After a nice evening at the
Drake Bay Wilderness Resort
where the food & accommodation was great, we set off at sunrise for day 2. We raised a Marlin quickly but no luck on the hookup and despite trying for Wahoo & Cuberas that part did not go to plan.
We had some excellent action with Tuna on the way back to Quepos catching 6 Tuna and also missed a Sailfish.
There were Orcas (Killer Whales) in the area in recent days but we were not lucky on finding them but we had some incredible wildlife encounters including Dolphins, Turtles, Manta Rays & Devil Rays.
A totally stunning trip & a great time had by all!
We would love to hear from you if you would like a multi day fishing adventure for yourself.
