It was day 2 yesterday for father & son Dave & Derrick from Connecticut who are joining us aboard GOOD DAY.
After catching 3 Sailfish on day 1, we went on an all out mission to catch a Sailfish on the Fly for Derrick. No sooner had we put the teasers in the water, we had Sailfish all over them. In the first 10 minutes of the day, we teased fish 5 different times, some of those would have been the same fish, but talk about getting the day started on the right foot!
From 8am to 11.30am we raised in the region of 15 Sailfish. Around 10 teased pretty well, 4 bite the Fly, Derrick hooked 3 Sailfish but all 3 managed to throw the hook fairly quickly unfortunately.
The afternoon slowed right down with only 3 more Sails raised between 11.30am-4pm, non of which teased well.
Catch Report
Raised 18 Sailfish
10 teased, 4 bit the Fly, hooked & lost 3 of them
Despite lots of action on the teasers & a great Bluewater Fly Fishing lesson for 21 year old Derrick, we didn’t catch the billfish that we were looking for.
All agreed despite not getting a fish to the boat, it was a great day and Derrick will be back to continue his mission!
Their 3rd & final day targeting Roosterfish was today, report to follow soon!
