The guys all live in the Jaco area, 1 hour north of us & the mission for the day was to provide an Offshore fishing experience & to teach them about the wider Sport Fishing Industry, the employment opportunities that exist because of it and why it is so important to our coastal towns here in Costa Rica. We discussed conservation, taught them about research and fish tagging thanks to the support of Gray FishTag Research
A huge thank you to A Reel Difference Jacó Impact & Justin DeBoom - Travel Consultant and Fishing Expert for setting the trip up & for all the hard work that is done in giving back to the community. English lessons, life coaching, employment opportunities, food & clothing assistance, donating of fish to the vulnerable are just some of the initiatives undertaken. And thank you to Pako for volunteering his time to take care of the girls. Not only is Pako (27) a volunteer lifeguard at the weekends but he is also a volunteer with Jaco Impact, lending his time to help with ongoing community issues. Just a great young man, very selfless & so nice to see in this day and age. Watch the video below for a short explanation of the program.
So onto the Fishing, basically the girls knocked it out of the park releasing 6 Sailfish, catching 2 Dorado and also missed a Marlin. They just loved the close encounters with the Dolphins & made life long memories of their day on the water.
5 Sailfish were tagged for Gray Fishtag Research for another memorable day aboard GOOD DAY!
