It was a beautiful day on the water with lots of life & plenty to see throughout the day. There were lots of small pods of Dolphins out there which came to the boat several times, lots of turtles, flying fish & sea birds. We even seen a Sea Snake on the surface!
The Sea was glass-like calm which was great for viewing the tailing & free jumping Sailfish, (a few swam directly under the bow of the boat, stunning!) but not so good for the bite. Before noon we raised 13 Sailfish, had 7 bites, releasing 1 Sailfish caught by Crispin whilst we lost another 2 Sailfish.
Duncan hooked a Sailfish within a minute of us starting fishing in the morning but unfortunately the leader parted after a 10 minute battle when the fish was very close to the boat.
We spent time fishing a Reef in 350 feet of water 20 miles offshore to try and catch some Groupers for dinner. Apart from 1 small Grouper we could not get in amongst the fish here. For the final part of the day we changed things up & were trolling Rapalas around the Parrita Rivermouth and then along the Coastline to Paquita in search of a Jack, Mackeral or Snapper. It was beautiful scenery with endless palm trees, deserted windswept beaches and perfect colour changes to fish where the brackish freshwater met the saltwater.
The fish did not want to play ball with us though and we ended the day with 1 Sailfish release & 1 Grouper in what was a beautiful day on the Ocean with family memories to be cherished for the Calvert's.
Thank you for fishing with us, it was great to have you aboard & hope to see you again one day!
