Roosterfish on Fly, certainly one of the more difficult fishing applications out there has become a bit of a personal project for me.
We took GOOD DAY down to the Savegre Rivermouth & beaches a few days back.
From 2 Roosterfish bites, we hooked 1 Rooster which unfortunately pulled the hook mid battle.
The method we were using was a spread of 3 slow trolled hookless Poppers to raise the fish so that we can cast a Fly to them. Unlike a Sailfish who will typically stay on your teaser & follow it to the boat, Roosters have other ideas! They are lightening fast & are often gone as quick as they appeared. All part of the challenge for sure!
So no fish to the boat today but a hooked fish tells us we are doing the right things & we will keep at it!
