July is a fairly quiet month tourist wise in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area and we did 8 charters this month aboard the 31’ GOOD DAY out of The Marina Pez Vela, Costa Rica.
There were more Blue Marlin caught than any other month this year and the Quepos fleet enjoyed the best Sailfish bite since April with many boats releasing 4-5 Sailfish a day. Yellowfin Tuna were caught throughout the month including a HUGE fish estimated at 300lb caught aboard Sea Hawk out of Quepos (photo attached). There was another fish of 150lb and many others in the 50-80lb range landed. The inshore fishing was excellent some days and we caught some great Roosterfish including a 45lb, 35lb, 30lb and other smaller fish.
July seen the arrival of the Humpback Whales along our coastline and we have been lucky to see mothers & cavles during most of our recent trips. Whales, Dolphins, Turtles, Thresher Sharks, Sea Birds, aswell as great fishing – what more could you ask for!?
