It was great to get back out there again yesterday & wet a line with Steve & Renee from Oregan joining us aboard GOOD DAY.
When we left the dock the weather looked pretty good but once we got out there things changed fairly quickly & we were treated to an electrical storm to tell the grandkids about!
The fishing was slow for the first few hours & we covered a lot of ground out to 28 miles but could not find any action. Things were looking pretty bleak but we had the right guests onboard today who were in great spirits enjoying the experience and the dolphin & turtle spotting.
Good things come to those who wait & thankfully everything came together after lunch when we found a big pod of dolphins at 26 miles, with tons of bait & diving birds. We quickly hooked into a Tuna & over the next hour caught 4 Tuna, the biggest going 45lb or so.
We were marking other fish on the sounder down below the bait & were convinced there were Marlin, Dorado & Sails in the school too. We kept circling & BOOM we hooked into a nice sized Blue Marlin which put on a great show. Renee did a great job on the fish which we tagged & released for Gray FishTag Research after a 35 minute fight. It was such a stunning fish, measured 120” tip to tip and easily in the 300lb bracket. Congrats Rene!
