Conditions were far from ideal with heavy rain & overcast skies for most of the day making it an extremely challenging day for all boats in the tournament, probably the toughest fishing day we had seen all year.
We headed down to the Furuno Bank area and our first real bite of the day came at 9.15am when a Blue Marlin crashed one of our Ballyhoo baits. The fish looked around 200lb and it put on an excellent display jumping twice right in front of the boat and its sheer power proving too much for our 80lb leader as the line parted.
We fished hard and managed to release 1 Sailfish from 3 bites and then missed a Wahoo which severed several of our baits.
More than 20 boats finished the day with either 1 Sailfish or Zero catches showing what a tough day it was out there.
Congrats to the winning team who posted an impressive 11 Sailfish releases & looking forward to the fourth & final day of the Offshore World Championship in Quepos tomorrow!
