After being camped out at home for the past 2 months our good friends & regular guests Jerry & Peyton were delighted to once again be aboard GOOD DAY & joined us for an Offshore trip. Catching Peyton’s first Marlin was high on the the bucket list for the day & the plan was to hopefully find some tuna also!
We were unlucky with the first Marlin that came in the the spread, it crashed the left short then came hurling clean out of the water before spitting the #islander lure in mid air. Very cool sight but the fish dissapeared and never came back for another look.
Then at 2.45pm just 15 mins before we would call lines out, a second Blue Marlin came in on the right teaser, hit it hard & then turned and gave the shotgun (furthest bait back) a tap but did not commit. A couple of minutes went by & Capt. Manuel started reeling in to check the bait which had been nudged when the Marlin came back up behind it and this time we got a good bite & hooked the fish. It was then almost an hour later that Peyton got her first ever Blue Marlin alongside GOOD DAY on 30lb tackle and what a special experience it was to share with her. Another one for the books not to be forgotten!
We are heading back out there on Saturday, can’t wait!
