We started this morning fishing the motherload of a Tuna school, it was the perfect way to start a trip but getting a bite out of them proved to be another matter! One huge Tuna rolled on our live bonito but upon inspecting our bait, it had just nipped the tail. Finnicky fish would be an understatement!! Despite working the Tuna hard for a couple of hours with 3 types of livebait (Bonito, blue runner, goggle eye), plus all manner of our favor artificial Tuna lures/jigs, we could just not catch one and reluctantly decided to move on.
Captain Manuel managed to find us a few Sailfish, raising 6 in total but we had a bit of bad luck with lost/missed fish and we ended up releasing 2 Sailfish of around 85lb & 100lb which we tagged for Gray FishTag Research
Pilot Whales, Turtles & lots of Dolphins were the sightings of the day and our new friends from Corpus Christi, Texas had a great day on the water!
