It was a real pleasure to fish with a great group of guys, Robbie, Papi, Eamon, Gregory & Nicholas from Trinidad on Saturday who we took for a full day offshore sport fishing to practice for the Offshore World Championship (OWC) which got underway here today.
The guys won 'The Marlin Madness' tournament back in Trinidad to qualify for the OWC catching 3 Blue Marlin including a huge Marlin estimated at over 1,000lbs. Real seasoned anglers & a lot of experience in the team.
We fished 28-30 miles off Quepos close to the Furuno Bank area where around 10 other boats had chosen to fish for the day. There were birds, dolphins and a few Tailing & Free jumping sailfish but the bite never really materialised.
In what turned out to be quite a slow day for fishing tournament style we raised 10 Sailfish, got bites from 8 and released 4. The guys did a lot of fine tuning in terms of their approach for the tournament days and we wish them all the very best for some success during the week ahead!
